Welcome back to the Bee Green Scrap Metal Recycling blog! Today, we’re going to tackle some more frequently asked questions about the metal scrapping process.
I’m trying to get into scrap metal recycling. What types of scrap do you take?
We have a full list of scrap we accept, but a shorter answer is: most metals. This includes copper, aluminium, brass, iron, and steel… along with wires and objects made primarily from those metals. Be sure to give us a ring ahead of time if you have a question about your scrap! We can let you know whether or not we’ll accept it, and how much we’ll pay per pound that day.
How do I determine what kind of metal I have?
To get a better idea of what you can get paid for your scrap, you need to have a good idea of what it is! Ferrous (Iron and Steel) metals will attract a magnet. Non-Ferrous (Aluminum, brass, copper) will not attract a magnet. We’ll pay for both… so bring it on up! Give us a ring if you have any questions. We’ve been at this a while and can help you identify and properly price the scrap metal you’re bringing in.
Is there a minimum or maximum amount of scrap you will accept?
There is no minimum… however, we pay by weight, so bringing us a single empty soda can isn’t going to get you much coin in your pocket. We don’t specifically have a maximum, either – but we would appreciate the courtesy of a call ahead if you plan on bringing a huge load. It will make things easier for both of us!
How much will I get paid for my scrap?
It depends on the amount (see above), and the current market price for that metal. We’ve written some blogs about why the prices for scrap metal fluctuate constantly – so check them out! Again – we’re only a phone call away, and can give you the day’s price quote over the phone for your scrap metal.
When do I get paid?
On the spot. Once we’ve weighed your load, we will print out a voucher that is redeemable immediately, on premises, for cold, hard, cash. Couldn’t be easier!
